Michael T. Nations, Attorney at Law in Atlanta, GA
Mike Nations has practiced law in Atlanta for over forty years. After graduating from Duke University, Mike and his wife Mary Jane served as Peace Corps Volunteers for two years in Venezuela. From 1977 through 2015, Mike headed his own small law firm, focusing on general business litigation, corporate law, and estate planning.
Primary Interests
While he has at times represented Fortune 500 companies and other large businesses, Mike’s primary interest has always been in small and medium-sized businesses, often family-owned, and the owners and managers of those companies. At the beginning of 2016, Mike opened his solo practice and has continued his interest in counseling, drafting contracts, estate and succession planning, and general problem-solving for professionals and business owners.
Giving Back
For many years, Mike provided extensive pro bono legal services to a startup charter school serving the Grant Park and Ormewood Park neighborhoods of Atlanta. Mike has also been an active supporter of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society since he began the practice of law. He serves on the Society’s Board of Directors and its Executive Committee, is the Chairman of the Audit Committee, and served as President of Atlanta Legal Aid in 2007. In addition, since 2009, Mike has served as a Trustee of the Georgia Bar Foundation, and is currently the Foundation’s Treasurer. The Georgia Bar Foundation manages Georgia’s Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA) program, which makes grants to legal services groups and other law-related charities around the state.
