Mike has for many years provided extensive pro bono legal services to Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School, Inc., which operates a K through 8 school on two intown Atlanta campuses, one in the Grant Park neighborhood and the other in nearby Ormewood Park. As part of the Atlanta Public Schools, Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School is racially and economically diverse. It has been consistently recognized for the high quality, innovative education it provides to its students, and was in fact named the Georgia Charter School of the Year in 2015 by the Georgia Charter Schools Association.
Mike has also been an active supporter of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society since he began the practice of law. He serves on the Society’s Board of Directors and its Executive Committee, is the Chairman of the Audit Committee, and served as President of the organization in 2007. In addition, since 2009, when Mike was appointed by the Georgia Supreme Court to serve as a Trustee of the Georgia Bar Foundation, he has helped to oversee Georgia’s Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA) program, which makes grants to legal services groups and other law-related charities around the state.
